The Louvre is a 13th century castle that has been transformed throughout history. Formerly the residence of the kings of France under the French Ancien Régime, it is now one of the most prestigious museums in the world. Since 1989, its famous glass pyramid has dominated the centre of the Cour Napoléon. Inside, there are medieval ruins and three galleries : Sully, Richelieu and Denon. This palace, built by Cardinal de Richelieu in 1642, is an architectural jewel next door to the Louvre. At the centre of a rectangle of ashlar buildings, its main courtyard has housed the 3.000 m² of contemporary sculptures of the “Colonnes de Buren” since 1986.
Under its arches, a range of luxurious boutiques invite you to browse through art and literary cafés, fashion and design. In the centre is a secret garden, where petanque games and water fountains, lime trees and restaurant terraces can be enjoyed.

The origins of this theatre, named “Maison de Molière”, lie in a Latin motto: “Simul et singulis”, “to be together and remain oneself”. The setting was established for the only French troupe of full-time performers. Founded under Louis XIV in 1680, this elegant theatre has a unique atmosphere. Every evening, classical concerts, ballets and plays are performed in front of 860 spectators in the Salle Richelieu. The current repertoire includes more than 3000 works. This is a place of art, of timeless splendour.

Neighbouring the Grands Magasins and Haussmann buildings, this listed monument dominates its surroundings magnificently. Its neoclassical baroque features were designed by the architect Charles Garnier in 1875. Behind the marble columns of its façade, ballets and operatic shows enchant 2200 devotees with more than 350 performances every year. From the stage to the lobby, day and night, there is music for the senses.
